It's exactly an ETH consensus model problem. ETH and all its copies/clones are single currency chains running mostly centralized apps on a single thread, decentralized computer. Smart contracts are not protocols, they are programs. Only ETH currency has accounting enforcement.

Smart contracts and the gas model are not a reasonable foundation for the future of web3 & DeFi. The security model is dangerous, fee model is broken, chain validation economics decoupled from the asset layer creating MEV and other perverse incentives.

Great opportunity for any decent dev to earn a good chunk of this incredible currency! It’s a clear, straightforward, and not too challenging task. Also a good chance to learn in the process. I’ll help with advice and pointers for anyone planning to take this on.
